Oleta Williams is Guyanese born, with over ten (10) years of portfolio experience in programme administration and project management specifically in the areas of environmental management, rural development, women’s enterprises, agro-processing, , sustainable land management, food security, conservation finance and disaster risk management. She is the holder of a Master of Science Degree in Conservation and Rural Development from the University of Kent, United Kingdom, having completed same as a Commonwealth Scholar. She is also the holder of a Bachelor of Science Degree in Environmental Studies from the University of Guyana and is also a Certified Associate in Project Management which is accredited by the Project Management Institute of the United States and was awarded a Global Skills Award from the University of Kent in 2017. She is currently pursuing her PHd in Biodiversity from the University of Guyana and undertaking research in Conservation Finance.
She is currently the Executive Director of the Protected Areas Trust in Guyana has a wealth of knowledge having been in the employ of both national and international organisations including the United Nations Development Programme, Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations, Inter American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture and the Guyana Lands and Surveys Commission. Ms. Williams has also part-time lectured at the University of Guyana in the area of Environmental Management.
On a personal regard, Ms. Williams enjoys philanthropy, travelling and the art of graphic design.
