THIS YEAR’S CONGRESS
We will explore the theme, “30x30x30: The Path to 2030,” with a focus on advancing global conservation targets within our national and regional contexts. At the heart of our discussions will be the “30×30” conservation target, a key element of the recently adopted Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF). This commitment mandates the conservation of 30% of the earth’s land and sea by 2030 through the establishment of protected areas (PAs) and other area-based conservation measures (OECMs). RedLAC members will be pivotal in supporting the range of conservation targets – especially the 30% marine, 30% terrestrial by 2030. The meeting will discuss the realities and challenges of the Sustainable Development Goals and reaching these global targets in the Latin America and Caribbean region.
