Senior Ranger - Protected Areas Commission

Octavious Henricks is a Senior Ranger at the Protected Areas Commission which is a semi-autonomous agency with responsibility for the management of Guyana’s National Protected Areas System. The Protected Areas Commission is also the primary grantee of Guyana’s National Conservation Trust Fund which is the Protected Areas Trust. Mr. Henricks has been a Ranger for almost nine (9) years stationed at the Kanuku Mountains Protected Area which is the 2nd largest protected area in Guyana. This protected area is surrounded by twenty-one indigenous communities and is rich in flora and fauna. Mr. Henricks of Macushi heritage which is one of the 9 Indigenous tribes of Guyana and is fluent in that local language. He is a father of three (3) girls and enjoys teaching children about the importance of Guyana’s Protected Areas in schools.
