Sean Nazerali is a professional specializing in biodiversity and natural resource management, with 29 years of experience in international development, including 18 years in Mozambique. He is a coauthor of the feasibility study on Sustainable Financing for Conservation Areas in Mozambique, as well as the Financial Plan for the national system of Conservation Areas. Nazerali introduced the concept of biodiversity offsets in Mozambique, drafting the Roadmap on Offsets for Mozambique. He supported the Government of Mozambique in drafting the Conservation Law, as well as in revising the legislation on Environmental Impact Assessment. He has been involved with the Foundation for the Conservation of Biodiversity (BIOFUND) since before its creation, facilitating its establishment during his eight years with WWF. Currently, he is the Director of Innovative Financing, where he is developing new mechanisms for biodiversity financing, including biodiversity offset programs, Payment for Environmental Services, and investments with the private sector.
