Manoel Serrão has over 25 years of experience in biodiversity and climate finance. He is currently the Superintendent of Programs at FUNBIO, overseeing the programmatic agenda and collaborating with bilateral and multilateral organizations, donors, governments, the private sector, and civil society. Manoel has been instrumental in developing innovative mechanisms for biodiversity, climate change, and bioeconomy initiatives.

Previously, he worked for 10 years at the Ministry of the Environment as the Sustainability Manager of the National Fund of the Environment (FNMA). He played a key role in creating the Latin American and Caribbean Network of Environmental Funds (RedLAC) and coordinated the Pantanal Program. In the 1990s, Manoel worked with fishermen and small rural producers on sustainable production projects and financial mechanisms through the Public Technical Assistance Agency (Emater) and the German Cooperation Agency (GIZ).

Manoel holds a degree in Fishery Engineering from the Federal University of Pernambuco and a Master’s in Environment and Sustainable Development from the University of Brasilia (UNB). His extensive background and expertise make him a vital contributor to environmental and sustainability efforts on both national and international levels.
