Sowmya Krishnamoorthy is the Director of Partnerships and Sustainable Finance at PADF. She has extensive experience in leveraging private sector partnerships to drive both environmental and economic sustainability. Her work focuses on innovative financing, local enterprise development, and public-private partnerships that promote sustainable practices in coastal communities.
Sowmya has been instrumental in integrating market-based approaches within PADF’s programming, particularly in the Caribbean, to support environmental conservation and resilience. Her expertise includes developing and leading programs that enhance supply and value-chain development, promoting access to finance, and facilitating investments that contribute to carbon neutrality and blue prosperity. Sowmya’s background in managing programs related to entrepreneurship, workforce training, local governance, environmental sustainability, and disaster response has equipped her with the skills to foster economic growth and environmental stewardship.
Before joining PADF, Sowmya worked at the Fortune Magazine Group at Time Inc., where she focused on strategic development of business brands. She also played a key role at the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund, where she facilitated investments and enterprise development in Haiti, contributing to post-disaster economic recovery and resilience building.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Hollins University and a J.D. and M.A. from Duke University School of Law.
