Joel Verde

Joel Verde holds an Associate’s degree in Natural Resource Management with 14 years of experience in conservation as the Executive Director of the Sarteneja Alliance for Conservation and Development (SACD). He has dedicated his life to protecting Belize’s marine and coastal resources because of his passion to make a difference in his community. His expertise spans protected area management, sustainable community development, biodiversity conservation, and fundraising. Joel has successfully led SACD, enhancing the management of Corozal Bay Wildlife Sanctuary and Bacalar Chico National Park. He champions sustainable financing for Marine Protected Areas and has piloted financial mechanisms to diversify income streams. Joel serves on the boards of the Protected Areas Conservation Trust and the Belize Fund for a Sustainable Future.
