With almost 15 years of work in sustainability Georgia Scarlett, has been a project manager in the areas of environmental management, climate change, disaster risk reduction and a myriad of related fields. This passion, borne from her love of the natural environment and her desire to be its steward, has also fuelled her to champion the cause in building the capacity of the most vulnerable. This she has administered through many initiatives geared towards conservation, ecosystem restoration, food security, environmental education, alternative livelihoods, invasive species control and disaster risk reduction. This work has provided the opportunity for the implementation of projects at varied levels of community, national and regional serving in Jamaica, Antigua, St. Lucia, Grenada and other islands the Caribbean.
A Jamaican, and two-time graduate of the University of the West Indies, Mona with both a Masters of Science in Natural Resource Management, specialising in Disaster Management and a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Environmental Science, Georgia has sought to study in fields aligned with her passion. Building on the degrees, she has garnered multiple certifications: Reef Check, Emergency First Responder Instructor, Occupational Health and Safety, Business Continuity Management, Psychosocial Support for children in Disasters, Fire Warden and Project Management.
Georgia is a mother, birder, foodie and yogi and when not directly engaged at work, she delights in fitness enjoying the gym, reading and spending time with her family.
